Tiger Roll goes for third National

Gordon Elliott is currently also targeting a third consecutive Randox Health Grand National success for Tiger Roll.
Owner Michael O’Leary had intimated another crack at the National was not a in the event the handicapper was too unpleasant given, but Elliott has moved to quash that anxiety — before April on the cards using a light programme.
Having emulated Red Rum by winning back renewals of this Aintree spectacular, Tiger Roll will be trying to go one better compared to possibly the National Hunt horse of time.
Elliott said:»It is very good to see him back, doing a bit of work again. He has had a wonderful few months of summer vacations.
«He went back to (O’Leary’s) Gigginstown (House Stud) obviously. He needed about 10 to 12 months outside on grass and was out there. He has done a few parades and had, although he has not had a saddle since the National along with Aintree.
«I have seen him a couple of times during the summer at Gigginstown and he was good and powerful, and I’ve seen him if he was here for a little while before he went off to do his flat work and he looked good.
«He will likely do three or four weeks of apartment work until he comes back to us in the main yard here.»
Having won the Boyne Hurdle along with the Cross Country race at the Cheltenham Festival last year, Elliott is currently targeting exactly the exact races again.
«Clearly he won’t be busy this year. We’re going to need to mind him now and pick and choose where we all go,» explained Elliott.
«He will probably have a single run over conflicts, possibly something like the Boyne Hurdle (Navan, February) again. He will go back to Cheltenham (March) for the Cross Country race and then we’ll go to the Randox Health Grand National.
«Keith (Donoghue) will ride in Cheltenham at the Cross Country race and the Boyne Hurdle and Davy Russell will ride him in the National.»
Elliott also ruled out running him in the Gold Cup or other similar races.
He added:»People tell me that I must be entering him Stayers’ Hurdles or Gold Cups, however that I was always taught and I’m a big believer in going to the race that you think you can win at the Cheltenham Festival and the race I think I can win in the Cheltenham Festival is that the Cross Country race, and so that is where he’ll go. However, the number one target this season is going to be the English National.»
Elliott is that Tiger Roll is.
He explained:»You don’t really realise just how much the horse meant to everyone. You see all of the individuals that came to the lawn and the children.
«You don’t really enjoy it when you’re in the bubble yourself. You do not realise how much of something there’s about this particular horse, you know? It’s only after you watch the movies and when you sit back and see the paper clippings, people have got to like him.
«You know, he’s got a terrific name, Tiger Roll, plus he has got a wonderful heart. He has won at four Cheltenham Festivals and also to win two Grand Nationals has been incredible.
«Everybody who comes into the yard, there is only one horse they want to see and that’s Tiger Roll. He’s a man’s horse today and we are blessed to have him.
«Red Rum was ahead of my period, but you’ve seen the movies and noticed all about him. He had been an incredible horse and to maintain exactly the same league as he’s unbelievable.
«I feel the build up to the English National this season is going to be unbelievable. The hype — people are currently talking about him . Whether he wins, he loses or draws, if he has back there to have a go to three in a row, it is going to be good. The hype will be brilliant.
«We were very, very satisfied with the horse (past year), he was in good shape and we’ve got him in wonderful purchase. If we could get him next year, there in half as a type he will have a chance.
«He knows he is great, he loves the attention. You simply watch him walking round the parade ring before and after he understands he is Tiger Roll.»
